Biosafety Manual

The purpose of this manual is to describe both the basic concepts in biological safety and the biological safety policies and procedures for Mississippi State University. These policies and procedures were designed to safeguard personnel and the environment from biologically hazardous materials without unduly limiting academic freedom and to comply with federal and state regulatory requirements. All MSU Principal Investigators (PIs) and laboratory workers must adhere to the campus biosafety policies and procedures in the conduct of their research and the management of their laboratories.

It is also recommended that each PI develop his/her own laboratory biosafety manual. To aid in this endeavour, the Biosafety Office has provided a template that can be found at this link.
