The IACUC

Committee Charge

University instructors and researchers planning projects that utilize animals must submit their proposed protocol to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) for review and approval of animal care and use aspects.

The IACUC at Mississippi State University is charged with:

  • Establishing and reviewing compliance with standards and procedures relating to animal welfare of animals used in research and teaching; and
  • Advising individuals and agencies dealing with such animals

2024 Meeting Schedule

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 1:30 PM for the Spring & Fall 2024 semesters. Meetings will be held at the 301 Building at the Research Park. In order for a Pain Category D or E protocol to be considered at that month's meeting, it must be submitted electronically to ORC&S no later than 5:00 PM, 10 working days prior to the meeting date.

IACUC Staff

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Staff strives to provide outstanding customer service to the MSU animal user research community by providing quality assistance and necessary resources while maintaining compliance with federal, local, and institutional rules and regulations. We are constantly streamlining our procedures so that interaction with our office staff reduces unnecessary burden to our researchers and provides them an avenue of ease in getting their research processed, reviewed, and approved.

All applications for review, modifications, annual updates, etc., must be submitted via the myProtocol system and will be processed by the IACUC staff promptly. Online training information is available at the "Training" link at the bottom of the page. Suggestions, concerns, and praises should be directed to compliance@research.msstate.edu or 662-325-7474.
