RCR Training via the CITI Website

MSU offers a part of RCR training, online, through the CITI Program. Completion of the required modules takes most people 2-4 hours. You do not have to complete all of the modules at one time. You may stop and return at a later time to complete the rest of the modules by signing in with your netID and password.

When you go to the CITI website at www.citiprogram.org, click the blue Log In button at the top right. On the next page, click Log In Through My Organization and find Mississippi State University in the list. This will prompt you to log in with your MSU netID and password.

  1. Once you are logged in, you should be on the home page. If you are not, please click the heading labeled "My Courses" next to the CITI Program logo.my courses
  2. On the Courses page, click the blue button labeled "View Courses" next to Mississippi State University. On the next page, scroll down to the section labeled "Learner Tools for Mississippi State University" and click on "Add a Course.2
  3. You should now see the CITI Course Enrollment Procedure page, where you will need to answer questions to identify which courses you would like to take at this time.  Scroll down to the CITI Course Enrollment Questions. If you only want to take RCR Training, then you need to answer "not at this time" or do not select a course for all of the questions except for Question 4 concerning Responsible Conduct of Research. For this question, choose Group 1: ALL (RCR).3
  4. Once you have completed the questionnaire, click "Submit." You should be redirected back to the "My Courses" screen and courses you enrolled in will be listed.
  5. To begin the training, click on the button that says "Start Now" next to that course. There are eight required modules and two elective modules. You may stop and start back where you left off at any time.

Note: When you complete all required modules successfully, ORC&S will receive a notification from CITI and your record will be updated in the training database. If you wish, you may print or download a Certificate or Course Completion Report as evidence that you have met institutional requirements.
